HIGHLIGHT STORY OF THE WEEK
Fox Board Sets Meeting Next Week to Consider Comcast Bid
Earlier this year, Disney agreed to purchase 21st Century Fox for $52.4 billion. Everything seemed like a done deal and the companies would just need to ride out the legal proceedings to get the sale approved. However, Comcast recently crashed the party with an offer of their own, one that totals $65 billion. If that becomes the case, and Fox does open up to the new offer, Disney won't be completely out of the running for the 21st Century assets. According to the initial terms of the deal, if a superior offer is presented, and Fox deems it superior, Disney will have five days to return with an even better proposal. Both Disney and Comcast want to purchase Fox outright, but there's always a third option to be considered. The two companies could each purchase certain assets from 21st Century Fox, essentially splitting the haul between them. If this does occur, Disney would likely still purchase the rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters, allowing Marvel Studios to have its entire comic book roster.

‘Captain Marvel’ to Be Scored by Female Composer, Marking Major Breakthrough
In a major breakthrough for women composers, Pinar Toprak has been signed to score “Captain Marvel,” the superhero movie due for release in March 2019. Toprak, who just finished scoring the first season of SyFy’s “Krypton” and who penned additional music for the DC film “Justice League,” is the first female composer to score a major comic-book movie.
Brie Larson Says She Learned Her Own Strength Playing ‘Captain Marvel’ Role
Actress Brie Larson wouldn’t say too much about her highly anticipated “Captain Marvel” film, but she did reveal that she discovered her inner and outer strength through her portrayal of the titular character. According to Larson, she trained extensively for nine months in order to build her physical strength prior to production. “My highest right now is 215 lbs. in deadlifts. 400 lb. hip thrusts,” she shared, while stating, “being able to lift weight like that really changed my perspective and understanding of myself.”
